Empower is the fifth and final book in the Embrace series by Jessica Shirvington.Violet Eden has been through a lot in these five books and I've been right there with her. Through the pain, suffering, fear, losses, journeys, battles, heartbreak and so much more. Violet has grown with each book, she was always a strong character but she got better as time went on, she had to go through things on her own and mature so she can become the person she was always meant to be, the Keshet, the rainbow.
For this one, all of my favorite characters return and we are introduce to another group who fit right in. I am not going to lie, I was bawling over this book. A lot of major events happened in this book and not everyone makes it out. However, a lot of my major questions were finally answered, such as what is Violets ultimate power, what is the name of her angel maker and more importantly what the hell to do about the love triangle that has devastated me over the years (I always loved Lincoln and Phoenix even when Phoenix was acting out).
Empower ended the only way it could have. I have read this series for years and I have loved every book and every moment. I would like to say thank you to Jessica for the Embrace series, it is one of my favorites and I will love it always.

Empower 9780734415103 Books Reviews
Ever since I was in grade school, I read a lot. There's nothing I like to do better, especially these days when my toddler goes down for his nap, than to sit in front of the fireplace and read a wonderful book. And I have to say, if I don't have any new books to read, the Embrace series are the first books I reach for to reread. I absolutely love the story-line and I'm a huge fantasy lover! This book keeps me on edge, even though I've read it more than a handful of times, and each time I do read them I see a whole new side to the story. I also really like how the author writes. Some books have a great story line but the author doesn't write the story the greatest, while other books the author is great at writing but needs to consult their muse more often....well this series has the best of both worlds!
I would recommend this series to ANYONE and EVERYONE! The way the characters grow and so many of their destinies are bittersweet and end up being so much more than they ever could have imagined for themselves. I literally cried in this book, which I very rarely do. The author creates such unique relationships amongst the characters and draws you in and lets you get to know their thoughts, desires, strengths, & weaknesses and it really creates an attachment to the characters. As the characters change and evolve and become different people, it is very emotional and draws you in. I couldn't wait to finish this series and now that it is over I'm extremely sad. I grew to love these characters. This series is the epitome of good writing. I fell in love with these characters and mourned their losses. Jessica Shirvington made me feel the emotions of these books in ways that so many books can't. Kudos Jessica, you should be insanely proud. Your name may not be as well know as Nicholas Sparks, but you knocked it out of the dang park on this series! I wouldn't have changed 1 thing.
This is a mass alert!!!! Drop everything and read this book now!!! Empower is a heart-pounding thrill ride that makes you never want to stop reading. This story picks up two years later, Violet is in London, and has joined with a group of Rogues. But, it's not long before her old life comes calling, and Vi is forced to make the choice of whether to face what she left behind and help her friends, or turn her back on them forever.
One of the things that is most noticeable in this book, besides the amazing writing, is the development of the characters. Violet, who has always been strong, grows the most. Violet finally understands that it is okay to be vulnerable, and to let people in. I couldn't help but compare the Violet in this book to the Violet that we were fist introduced to in Embrace. Violet has become this amazing grown woman that underwent an unexpected journey, one of self-discovery and understanding their fullest potential. While Violet is strong and brave, she realizes that she can't simply turn everything off, and be heartless to the world. Because if she stays like that, she will eventually lose herself and those she holds most dear. Lincoln also undergoes a journey of his own. One of accepting that he needs to trust Violet and let her be her powerful, capable self. In a way, throughout the series, he has always held her back because he wanted her to be safe. While this is understandable because he is a Power and her soul mate, he realizes that if he wants to be apart of Violet's life, he needs to relinquish some of his worry over her. Both of these developments with our beloved characters is subtle, but very noticeable by the end. It is in this, that this book is amazing. It takes a special type of author to be able to do this with his/her characters, and Ms. Shirvington proves that she is in the elite of authors with this book.
All of our favorites return, along with some new characters that you will quickly love. Steph is stronger than ever, and never backs down. It was great to see her step up in a role that many "humans" would back down from. I loved Gray. He added a nice bit of humor to the book that was needed to lighten things up. And all Griffin fans (and seriously, who isn't a Griffin fan?) can rejoice because he makes an appearance as well. While I do wish he was in a bit more of the book, he didn't actually serve much of a role in this book, and it probably would have felt forced if he were in more of the story.
The action in this book is another amazing aspect. It will blow you away with the intricacy and attention to detail that Ms. Shirvington puts into every scene. However, with all this action, there is bound to be some heartbreak. After all, this is war. Some of the deaths are extremely sad, but there is one death in particular that I was absolutely fine with (and once you read this book, you will know exactly who I'm talking about). There are so many twists and turns in this book, but have no worries, because all loose ends are tied up. We find out who Violet's Angel Maker is, what it means to be the "rainbow," and just how powerful Violet actually is. One of the biggest shocks in this book involves a character that is close to all our hearts...Phoenix. And let me tell you now, it's a doozy.
The romance is another thing that blew me away. I don't know how any other characters that Ms. Shirvington will write about will compare to the love between Violet and Lincoln, but I can't wait to find out. Their love for each other is so pure, and everything a person wants. It shows that true love can overcome anything.
The end of this book will have you crying. I'm warning you now. There's death, love, and a goodbye. Seriously, the entire ending of this book had me first tearing up (when I found out a certain character died), and then crying buckets. However, it provided a very nice sense of closure to the series, and I couldn't have asked for a better ending.
At first, I wasn't sure where this story was going to go considering the storyline with Lilith was wrapped up, but the plot in this book was extraordinary. Ms. Shirvington's creativeness and uniqueness for storytelling shone through in this novel, and this book will easily be devoured by fans. I could not put this book down, and you won't be able to either. I can't wait to read anything else that Ms. Shirvington writes because I know it will be amazing. I highly recommend this book to all fans of the series; you won't be disappointed. Happy reading )
