This story bored me. The description of the heroine's relationship with the hero never convinced me that they could ever fall in love truly. Garrett was to me an undesirable hero and I could not see how Maryann could ever fall for him. His attitude toward her the whole story was the way a pimp would treat his prostitute. He basically spent the whole book keeping her under his thumb using a very lame excuse to keep her there. She as a heroine is easily cowed and allows the mistreatment of her character so she can "protect" her secret. I kept feeling how stupid she was in that she went to all the trouble to "fake" her death and did not even bother to go into real hiding away from her roots.

All in all I love Sabrina Jeffrie's books, but this one I am sure I will never read again. I think if you are a die hard of Jeffries newer works you will be disappointed in this book. Her characters are not in my opinion well developed or even likeable people. The humor that Jefferies normally puts in her book, I felt this one lacked.

Really enjoyed this one. I knew The author had more talent than the Hellion's series showcased. Interesting storyline, characters with some depth. Overall a recommended read.
Had a good plot with turns and suprises. The romance was steamy and well written. I would read this author again.

I like Sabrina Jeffries stories. Actually, this story had it all but was a wee bit slow.
Sabrina Jeffries never let's me down when it comes to her writing. In this book you have two characters you love. You have the heroine Marianne Winchilsea (Mina to her friends). The Hero Garrett Lockwood, the Earl of Falkham.
They both have there secrets and they both have trust issues. In this story is Mina is hiding her identity. She doesn't want people to know that she's still alive. The town people knows who she is and guards her secret. With the Earl moving back into the area she definitely doesn't want to reveal who she is.
She happens to have a gift. She is an accomplished healer and circumstances that happen to bring her and Garrett into each other lives. With both of them having trust issues, this makes for an interesting relationship between them. Garrett has returned to his family home after 10 years of exile, so the incident that brings these two together proves to be a very wonderful tale of conspiracies and intrigue.

If you like intrigue, mysteries to unravel, humor, and great chemistry in Romance. You will love to read this great book. And the history of this time is quite good also.

I seriously cannot rave enough about SABRINA JEFFRIES books.
The first one is as good as the second,third, fourth as many as she has written ....LOL )
Any of her book's or series is just as interesting as the first one you begin reading .

This was something that she wrote when she was first starting out as a writer, and for me i feel that her latest books are so far the best. I have some older books of her's (the pirate lord, the forbidden lord) and i still like to re-read them. But this one just didn't do it for me, so it's not one i will keep. I still love reading her books and i will buy her newest one coming out soon and see if that one is a really good one, but after i read this book i can't tell you what happened, it's one of your books you quickly forget
